Angels Camp
USA Holiday Destinations
RV holiday makers who tour the beautiful state of California are most likely to find themselves in Gold Country before too long. This is a region in central and north eastern California which runs roughly along the length of Highway 49. Lying on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada, Gold Country reaches all the way down into the Sacramento Valley. This historic and stunningly beautiful region is an ideal place to tour in one of our RV rentals.
Cool pine forests dominate the landscape with quaint little Gold Rush towns spread throughout. See the majesty of the gushing whitewater rivers, explore the mysterious caves and explore the history of the area. RV rental holiday makers continue to be drawn to this region both for easy one or two day visits and also for long stay holidays.
Angels Camp is a quaint Gold Rush town located in the Sierra Foothills. Travelling along Highway 49 in one of our RV rentals it can be found just north of New Melones Lake. Like other Gold Rush towns it has had its ups and downs but when a Gold bearing quartz vein was found the town really took off. Author Mark Twain based his short story "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County" on a story he claimed to have heard at the historic Angels Hotel. Residents of the town continue to celebrate this event with the annual Mark Twain Frog Jumping Jubilee each May at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds just east of the city.
